E-Resources

ONLINE DATABASES

The following online databases can be accessed in the Internet Section of the University Library:

1. Academic OneFile

The premier source for peer-reviewed, full-text articles for academic libraries from the world's leading journals, this comprehensive resource covers the physical and social sciences, technology, medicine, engineering, the arts, technology, literature and many other subjects.

2. Open Knowledge hub

An Open Data platform for sharing and downloading digital content about development. It is primarily a database of open-licensed metadata (bibliographic data and links) abour reseach documents, organizations and other materials.

3. Socioeconomic Research Portal for the Philippines (SERP-P)

An online knowledge resource that contains socioeconomic studies and materials produce by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) and other academic and research institutions. Also the country's first elecronic repository of policy research and information that capitalizes on research networking, where users can access socioeconomic materials in various formats- journal articles, books, working papers, policy notes, research papers, newsletters - from multiple sources.

4. Emerald Insight

A collection of more than 75,000 full text articles, 200,000 reviews from managment journals, plus case studies, literature reviews, book reviews, conference information, interviews and profiles.

5. ScienceDirect

ScienceDirect is a leading full-text scientific database offering journal articles and book chapters from more than 2,500 peer-reviewed journals and more than 11,000 books.

6. Philippine eLib

The Philippine eLib is a collaborative project of the National Library of the Philippines (NLP), University of the Philippines (UP), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Agriculture (DA), and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Funded through the e-Government Fund of the Philippine Government, the project hopes to provide for the information needs of all sectors of society in a convenient, affordable, and efficient way of delivery. Available resources include: Union catalog of the five partners; Digitized Filipiniana materials including theses and dissertations; Special collection/researches of the five partners; and, Online resources/subscription to electronic databases.

7. ProQuest Central

This database serves as the central resource for researchers at all levels. Covering more than 160 subjects areas, ProQuest Central is the largest aggregated database of periodical content. This award-winning online reference resource features a highly-respected, diversified mix of content including scholarly journals, trade publications, magazines, books, newspapers, reports and videos.

8. BU HERDIN

Health Research and Development Information Network (HERDIN) database is the national health research repository of the Philippines. HERDIN database provides quick and easy access to more than 50,000 citation and bibliographic information from published (Philippine health research journals , conference/convention proceedings, International databases and publications) and unpublished (research institutions research projects and reports, thesis and dissertations) health researches in the country. Bicol University is among the partners/member-institutions of the HERDIN project in Region 5. It has its own HERDIN website which can be accessed at bu.herdin.ph. This database contains bibliographic entries of unpublished dissertations under the Master in Nursing program of the BU Graduate School.

Journals in CD-ROMs

These are collections of CD-ROMs. Library users who wish to avail of these materials will have to request it from the librarian-in-charge.
