Library Sections

University Archives. 

A repository of the university's records with permanent and historical value.

Control Section

The Control Section is a depository area of the things/belongings of the researchers who enter the Library. It is located near the entrance of the library. Library users are given numbers once their things are left in the control counter to prevent any loss and to facilitate easy retrieval of their belongings.

Circulation Section

The Circulation Section houses books for general circulation and that may be borrowed for overnight use. It implements the policies and procedures concerning the borrowing and returning of books borrowed for overnight or home reading use by the library users. Queries or reference questions of researchers can be entertained in this section. Other functions include the issuing of fines for overdue books and signing of clearances.

General Reference Section

The General Reference Section contains the general and subject references such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, yearbooks, and other materials that are referred to for specific items of factual information. It also includes maps, posters, etc. Materials in this section are For Room Use Only.

Reserved Book/Graduate Section

The Reserved Book/Graduate Section contains books assigned by faculty as required reading materials for their students. The materials classified under this section are based on the high cost price, out of print, and demands of users. They may be checked out for a short period of time to ensure that all students will have access to the materials. A reserved book may be borrowed for overnight or weekend use at the last hour before closing time to be returned on or before 9:00 A.M. the following school day.

Internet Section

The Internet Section has 50 computer terminals. All bonafide library users can avail of its free Internet access for one (1) HOUR but is strictly FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY.

Fiction Section

The Fiction Section is within the Circulation Section. Fiction books can be borrowed for one (1) week and may be renewed for another week, unless another borrower signifies to borrow the same.

Periodical Section

The Periodical Section houses publications that are issued at regular intervals over a period of time and intended to continue indefinitely. The materials include magazines, journals, newspapers, pamphlets, vertical files, and posters that are FOR ROOM USE ONLY.

Theses and Dissertation Section

The Theses and Dissertation Section, located beside the General Reference Section, houses the theses of the undergraduate students of the College of Arts and Letters (CAL), College of Science (CS), and the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Recreation (IPESR) and the theses and dissertations of the Graduate School.

Filipiniana Section

The Filipiniana Section located in the General Circulation Section contains books about the Philippines, books written by Filipinos, books written by foreign authors about the Philippines, and books written in Filipino language and dialects.

Multi-Media Section

The Multi-Media Section located in a separate room beside the Internet Section contains video and cassette tapes, CDs and DVDs for teaching and demonstration classes. It can accommodate 50 students. Use of Multi-Media room should be reserved three (3) days before its target date of use.
